Jack Brisco Passed Away, Aged 68

On Feb.1, legendary wrestler Freddie Joe Brisco, better known as Jack Brisco, died of complications from open heart surgery at the age of 68. Wrestlingobserver.com reported on its site that Brisco had gone through a heart surgery just few weeks ago.


Jack Brisco was known as an excellent wrestler to his longtime fans as well as younger fans in wrestling industry. In 1970s, Jack became famous for winning National Wrestling Alliance in the 1970s after becoming winner of NCAA wrestling championship at 191 pounds as an amateur in 1965.He was the first Native American to win the NWA. He became holder of NWA twice in 1973 and in 1974 four days after losing to Shoehei Giant Baba in Japan.


In the 1980s, Jack Brisco and his younger brother Gerald Brisco formed one of the two greatest tag team of all times behind the Funks called the Briscos. When saying about the Briscos, people cannot forget about their contribution to the changes they made to wrestling history.


Jack and brother Gerald also played a huge role in discovering Terry Bolllea who later became the biggest start in wrestling history. The Briscos introduced Terry to trainer Hiro Matsuda, whom helped Terry later become successful in the industry.


Jack Brisco was born on September 21,1941 in Baltimore and grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma in a family of five children.


Not long after joining in the WWF tag teams champions at the Arena with his brother Gerald, Jack retired at the age of 43.


In 2005, Brisco was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005. Brisco is considered one of the great legendary wrestlers of the 1970s. Brisco and his brother, Gerald, were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2008.


Jack Brisco was called "the greatest champion of the 20th century" by former wrester Don Leo Jonathan in 2005.

I feel very sad about the death of Jack Brisco. I had chance to watch Jack through videos and I realize that he was a best wrestler of all time.I want to extend my condolences to Brisco's family and friends.
